The Role of Teacher Preparation in Ensuring Effective Teachers for All RCC

Many teacher preparation programs focus on preparing teachers to work in hard-to-staff or high-poverty schools, particularly in urban and rural locations. However, education graduates tend to return home to teach, or choose locations and demographics similar to their own backgrounds. Recruiting educators from the communities they will serve is a viable strategy for providing committed teachers who will remain in urban or rural hard-to-staff locales.
