3:00-5:00pm EDT. A new webinar from the REL Mid-Atlantic.

School climate or culture reflects the physical environment, safety, school leadership, teachers, and stakeholder relationships—all the elements that combine to give individuals a “feeling” about a school. Because research suggests a strong association between a positive school climate and student achievement, school culture has become an important concept in education reform.

Dr. Jonathan Cohen, President of the National School Climate Center, will discuss the elements in a positive school climate and share different methods for assessing school data, including the Comprehensive School Climate Inventory. What are the goals of this webinar?

  • To learn what the research says about the elements of a positive school climate
  • To explore the tools that education leaders can use to assess school climate in their school or district
  • To discuss how school leaders can respond to data on school climate
