REL Appalachia hosted a webinar on increased learning time (before- and after-school programs, weekend programs, and summer schools). This webinar presented findings from a recent systematic research review and meta-analysis summarized in the REL Appalachia report The Effects of Increased Learning Time on Students’ Academic and Nonacademic Outcomes. A panel of experts presented about lessons learned from their work to support states, districts, and schools. The webinar aimed to:

  • Increase knowledge of the current research on increased learning time
  • Deepen the understanding of the importance of aligning ILT programs with student data
  • Demonstrate the range of academic and nonacademic student outcomes that can serve as key indicators of success of increased learning time programs
  • Provide participants with opportunities to ask questions related to the topics discussed during the event, and to discuss how the information shared might inform local practice
