Many states are thinking about how to ensure outcomes with their low-performing schools while providing support. In this webinar, staff of New York State Education Department (NYSED) School Turnaround Office discussed how they implemented performance management with School Improvement Grant (SIG) cohorts 1, 2, and 3. They shared some key takeaways and early lessons learned about using performance-based management to develop technical assistance relationships focused on quality control and outcomes to move beyond standard compliance monitoring. During this webinar, Cheryl Wheeler, Assistant Director of School Innovation, Rochester School District, New York, shared her experiences of working collaboratively with NYSED in using of performance management practices including having a “customer service” orientation. We invite you to review this archive to hear experiences of the NYSED staff and learn more about their proactive protocol that reviews evidence, data, challenges, and early outcomes.
